
Overview:
This course offers hands-on exercises in freehand drawing, using various mediums such as pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink. Participants will explore key concepts in drawing, including volume, proportion, and perspective, while also delving into the relationship between line, form, value, and texture. The course is designed to deepen participants' understanding of different drawing materials and encourage creative thinking. Emphasis will be placed on skill-building, compositional variation, and personal artistic expression.
Throughout the course, students will learn foundational drawing techniques, elements of design, and how to harness the unique strengths of different mediums. Individual attention will be provided to ensure that artists of all skill levels can grow at their own pace and receive tailored guidance to enhance??their artistic abilities.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, the students should be able to:
Work with basic Drawing and Sketching Techniques:
Line drawing, shading, perspective, and proportions.
Encouraging self-confidence in their ability to sketch freely.
Understand Skill Progression:
Evaluating their own work through self-reflection or feedback.
Setting goals for advancing their techniques, such as learning more advanced media or styles.
Develop a solid artistic Foundation:
Identifying the elements of successful artwork: composition, subject matter, and the choice of medium.
Learning the balance between the technical and creative aspects of art.
Material Mastery:
Getting comfortable with different mediums (charcoal, ink etc.).
Understanding techniques like layering, mixing, as well as storage and framing
Art as Therapy:
Discussing how art-making can help in managing stress or emotional challenges.
Applying techniques like mindfulness or expressive art to improve emotional well-being.
Self-Expression and Individuality:
Emphasizing the importance of each student's unique style.

Application Process:
Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:
- A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.
- Correct CNIC details.
Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.
Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:
1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system https://pay.lums.edu.pk
2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.
Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.
Installment:

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.
