Course Overview:

This course will focus on developing students confidence and fluency in spoken and written English through interactive and communicative learning experiences. It will focus on practical language use in everyday, academic and workplace contexts. Students will participate in discussions, role-plays, presentations, collaborative tasks, and guided writing activities that promote real-world communication skills. Emphasis will be placed on speaking fluency, vocabulary development, listening comprehension, pronunciation, paragraph writing and professional communication. The course will follow a communicative and learner-centred approach, encouraging active participation, pair work, group interaction and task-based learning to support meaningful language acquisition.

Please note: This is a beginner level English language course.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, the students should be able to:

• Participate more confidently in everyday English conversations.

• Express opinions, ideas, preferences and experiences using appropriate spoken English.

• Use functional vocabulary and common grammatical structures in real-life communication.

• Write clear and organised paragraphs, emails and short responses.

• Demonstrate improved pronunciation, fluency and listening comprehension skills.

• Apply communication strategies effectively in academic, professional and social contexts.

Course Outline

Aleeza Rasool

Aleeza Rasool is an English language educator with over 10 years of teaching experience across diverse educational settings and multicultural learning environments. She holds a CELTA from Cambridge University, a PGCE from Anglia Ruskin University and an MSc from the University of Oxford. Currently an ESL and Learning Support Teacher at Lahore American School, Aleeza specializes in communicative language teaching and helping learners develop confidence and fluency in spoken and written English.

Application Process:

Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:

- A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.

- Correct CNIC details.

Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:

1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system https://pay.lums.edu.pk

2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.

Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

Installment:

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.
