The course "Introduction to Architecture and Urban Studies' shines a light on the fundamental concepts of creation of spaces and the relationship of spaces with one another and with the city. This course involves a discussion about the different elements of architecture and cities to develop a holistic understanding of architecture and urbanism. This course deals with different scales of the built environment: from the scale of a room to a building to a street and to the large scale of a city. The course "Architecture and urban studies" will give an insight into the understanding of the built environment and our relationship with it; the impact of cities on their citizens and vice versa.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Basic understanding of architecture.
  • Basic understating of spaces and their relationships with one another
  • Ability to read maps, plans, and architectural drawings
  • Knowledge of materials, textures and colours.
  • Ability to generate rudimentary 2 Dimensional plan drawings.
  • Idea generation; creative thinking.
  • Understanding of cities
  • Understanding of how cities work: road networks, infrastructure, economic centers, etc.
  • Awareness about sustainability in regards to the city and its architecture.
  • Ability to express ideas in various mediums.
  • Be able to re-imagine their cities.

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.

Participants must register online through CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have a formal scanned picture (for CES smart card) and CNIC details. Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Once you have completed your online registration for your desired course, you may proceed to payment section. You have the option to pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system OR by downloading the fee vouchers and depositing cash in any branch of designated banks specified on the fee voucher. Once you make your payment, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours and your payment status will be updated to "PAID" in the online application portal.
