Overview:

This course offers a hands-on introduction to the field of User Experience (UX), combining both UX research and design fundamentals. Whether you're looking to start a career in UX, improve existing digital products, or better understand how users interact with technology, this course provides you with the foundational tools and methods to create meaningful, user-centred experiences.

Through real-world case studies, interactive exercises, and individual design tasks, participants will learn how to understand user needs, conduct usability tests, and build intuitive, engaging interfaces. The course is designed for beginners and professionals from diverse fields, including marketing, product management, business, education, and design.


Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, the students should be able to:??

    • Understand the principles of user-centred design and UX thinking

    • Conduct basic UX research methods such as user interviews, surveys, and usability testing

    • Translate research insights into actionable design decisions

    • Create user personas, user journeys, and wireframes

    • Apply best practices in UI/UX design for web and mobile interfaces

    • Use basic prototyping tools like Figma or Adobe XD to develop design mockups

    • Critically evaluate and improve existing digital products based on user feedback

    Course Outline

    Saad Bin Waqas
    Saad Bin Waqas is a Product Designer at SHAPE Global, with expertise in user experience research, interaction design, and service design. He holds an MSc in User Experience Engineering from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BS in Computer Science from LUMS. With hands-on experience working in the UK market and across global startups, Saad has contributed to products in healthtech, fintech, and mobility sectors. He has also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Goldsmiths, where he trained master's students in UX research methodologies and technologies, including eye-tracking, biosensors, and usability testing tools.

    Application Process:

    Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:

    - A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.

    - Correct CNIC details.

    Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

    Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:

    1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system https://pay.lums.edu.pk

    2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.

    Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

    Installment:

    Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.
