This course will introduce students to sequential storytelling. Sequential art is the combination of words and pictures used in a specific order to tell stories. Most simply, sequential art refers to comics and graphic novels. Through collaborative zine making and individual projects students will read and craft their own stories, whether fiction or nonfiction, understanding the fundamental rules of how to create legible illustrated narratives. The course will focus on the practical creation of sequential narratives along with lectures that will introduce students to historical and modern day sequential narratives.

Rohama Malik
Rohama Malik is a multidisciplinary illustrator. She is a Fulbright scholar and graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Arts MFA Illustration Practice program where she was also the recipient of the Nancy Lee Rhodes Roberts Graduate Fellowship.

She works in various mediums including digital and traditional illustration, sculpture, sewing, and animation. She explores diverse topics from science fiction narratives and folk lore to mental health.

She has given a talk on Islamicate Science Fiction at MICA Illustration's World building course and has moderated a talk on science fiction for The Desi Collective's The Writer's Block Party. Her work has been displayed at Tomorrow, a group show at PressMatter in Shanghai as well as VM Gallery's group show Days of Light and Darkness .

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.

Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Once you have completed your online registration for your desired course, you may proceed to payment section. You have the option to pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system??https://pay.lums.edu.pk??OR by downloading the fee vouchers and depositing cash in any branch of designated banks specified on the fee voucher. Once you make your payment, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours and your payment status will be updated to "PAID" in the online application portal.
