Overview:

Auditing today demands agility, accuracy, and efficiency. Yet many audit teams remain dependent on traditional tools, spreadsheets, or programming-heavy environments like Python and R, which require steep learning curves, coding fluency, and significant maintenance efforts. This training takes a different path: it demonstrates how auditors can achieve the same level of sophistication ??? and more ??? through a no-code environment powered by KNIME and AI integration.

Over 40 hours of structured, hands-on sessions, participants will progress from absolute fundamentals of KNIME to creating production-ready audit workflows. Each session builds step by step: beginning with data access, cleaning, and visualisation; advancing into workflow automation; and culminating in AI-powered applications such as anomaly detection, fraud flagging, and compliance dashboards. Exercises mirror real-world tasks auditors face ??? reconciling bank statements, detecting irregular transactions, automating reports, and producing interactive dashboards ??? all designed and executed without a single line of code.

The program emphasises transparency and audit-readiness at every stage. Unlike coding-based environments, where logic often remains hidden in scripts, KNIME???s visual workflows provide complete visibility, governance, and reusability. Participants will leave with practical skills and reusable audit workflows to apply immediately in their professional context.

This is not just technical training; it is a rethinking of what audit analytics can be: accessible, efficient, AI-enabled, and completely code-free.???

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the AI/ML & no-code landscape for audit - benefits, limits, and when to escalate to Python/R.

  • Translate audit risks into analytics objectives - link procedures to assertions and audit phases with clear success criteria.

  • Scope realistic audit use cases & manage expectations - select from a use-case menu, define in-scope/out-of-scope, data needs, and target outcomes.

  • Acquire multi-source audit data with lineage - connect to Excel/CSV/PDF/ERP/DB and record provenance.

  • Prepare audit-ready datasets - profile, clean, de-duplicate, standardise, and structure data using reusable no-code components.

  • Explore and visualise for audit insight - perform EDA, surface anomalies/trends, and produce stakeholder-ready visuals as evidence supplements.

  • Automate audit procedures in KNIME - build parameterised, reusable workflows; schedule refreshes, reconciliations, and checks via Data Apps with audit trails.

  • Apply AI/ML responsibly without coding - configure anomaly detection and ML, evaluate precision/recall and false-positive load, and explain results.

  • Govern analytics & manage model risk - ensure evidence sufficiency, reproducibility, privacy, bias checks, versioning, and change control.

  • Deliver and defend an end-to-end capstone - build a production-ready workflow (data - analytics/AI - automation - dashboard), validate it, and present to a mock engagement partner/audit committee.

Please note that participants will be required to bring their laptops for the course.

The overall experience that I’ve had with this course is just amazing. It’s like a micro MBA that LUMS can have you do in less than two months. It’s a very rigorous course, it’s time-consuming and very hands-on and is a learning experience that everyone should experience at least once in their lives.
