The Certificate in Health Professions Education offers healthcare professionals a transformative opportunity to refine their skills and excel in the art of teaching and training within the dynamic healthcare field. This comprehensive program encompasses diverse topics, centring on teaching, learning, and assessment within the healthcare profession. By utilising a case-based pedagogy, participants will acquire a robust skill set, enabling them to develop highly effective instructional strategies, design and implement impactful academic and research programs, and adeptly evaluate student performance.

Throughout the program, participants will delve into vital concepts related to research and education, fostering a deep understanding of learning theories, curriculum design, instructional methods, grant proposal development, and the effective presentation of research findings. Hands-on experience will be gained through various practical activities, empowering students to create compelling lesson plans, deliver engaging presentations, and design and implement innovative assessments. Recognising the demands of busy professionals, the course has been thoughtfully structured to allow students to balance their studies with work and other commitments.

Upon successfully completing the programme, graduates will emerge well-equipped to design and deliver exceptional educational programs within the healthcare profession. They will be primed to assume leadership roles in academic settings, actively contributing to developing and implementing best practices in health professions education.

Learning Outcomes:

The program comprises six courses. By the end of this program, the participants should be able to:

  • Develop the knowledge and skills required for faculty members to enhance teaching effectiveness, demonstrate leadership abilities, implement effective assessment methods, conduct program evaluation, and apply Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) in healthcare education.

  • Develop the skills and competencies necessary for effective teaching in healthcare education, including understanding adult learning principles, designing learner-centred lesson plans and curricula, managing classrooms and engaging students, integrating technology for enhanced teaching and learning, and applying practical teaching techniques through case studies and real-life scenarios.

  • Develop proficiency in research study design and grant writing, encompassing selecting and evaluating appropriate study designs, understanding quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, critically appraising research evidence, and acquiring the skills to write successful grant proposals in healthcare education.

  • Develop advanced competencies in Generative AI and Data Science applications tailored for healthcare, encompassing critical skills in data analysis, machine learning, healthcare informatics, and ethical AI usage.

  • Develop ethical awareness, decision-making skills, and the ability to foster collaborative and accountable environments while navigating ethical dilemmas, promoting interprofessional collaboration, and demonstrating leadership and responsibility in healthcare workplaces.

  • Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively engage in scholarly article analysis, critical discussions, and presentations while promoting collaboration, networking, and staying updated with the latest developments in healthcare through journal clubs, symposiums, and seminars.

Application Process:

Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:

- A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.

- Correct CNIC details.

Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:??

1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system https://pay.lums.edu.pk 

2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.

Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances.
