Overview:

In this course students will focus on:

Strengthening the financial acumen, analytical skills, and strategic insight necessary to drive value creation and sustain competitive advantage. The program aims to bridge the gap between strategic decision-making and financial management, enabling participants to integrate cost and performance management with long-term business strategy.

By fostering these competencies among middle tier executives, the program positions the organisation to better adapt to industry changes, maximise resource utilisation, and maintain a resilient, forward-looking approach in an increasingly complex business environment.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Analyse and apply core cost concepts to evaluate cost behavior and optimise business performance.

  • Apply cost allocation methods to accurately assign costs and assess their impact on product, service, and profitability decisions.

  • Use Cost Volume Profit (CVP) analysis to evaluate alternative scenarios and support strategic and operational decision-making

  • Prepare and interpret operating and financial budgets to support planning, control, and performance management.

  • Analyse variances by bridging strategy and operations, and interpret variance results to recommend corrective managerial actions.

  • Apply relevant costing principles to evaluate short-term and long-term managerial decisions

  • Evaluate strategic investment decisions by applying capital budgeting techniques such as NPV, IRR, and Payback.

  • Apply responsibility accounting concepts to measure performance using appropriate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

  • Analyse transfer pricing methods and assess their impact on divisional performance and organisational goal congruence.

Saira Rizwan is an Adjunct Faculty member at the Suleman Dawood School of Business (LUMS) and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. With 20+ years of experience spanning credit rating work (including with PACRA) and teaching and training, she brings a rigorous, real-world lens to finance for managers.

Application Process:

Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:

- A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.

- Correct CNIC details.

Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.

Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:

1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system??https://pay.lums.edu.pk

2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.

Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances.
