Course Overview:
This is a practical, highly interactive entrepreneurship course focused on the part of venture building where founders create the most leverage: finding the right problem and developing the right idea. Rather than beginning with a business plan, students will learn how entrepreneurs observe the world, identify unmet needs, generate opportunities, develop and compare ideas, and test whether those ideas are worth pursuing.
Through structured ideation exercises, case studies, founder examples, customer discovery, rapid experimentation, and hands-on venture work, students will move from problem discovery to a clear and testable startup concept. The course covers practical tools for creative thinking, problem framing, customer understanding, opportunity evaluation, value proposition design, MVPs, business models, go-to-market, teams, funding, and scaling.
The four-day format is designed as a founder workshop: participants progressively develop a single venture concept throughout the course and conclude with a concise, evidence-based startup pitch. Participants may begin with an existing idea, a problem they care about, or simply curiosity about entrepreneurship.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, the students should be able to:
Identify meaningful problems and entrepreneurial opportunities using observation, customer insight, trends, and structured problem-framing techniques.
Generate, develop, and prioritise startup ideas using practical ideation methods, creative thinking, and opportunity-screening frameworks
Distinguish attractive ideas from viable opportunities by assessing customer desirability, technical feasibility, market potential, and commercial viability.
Test key assumptions through customer discovery, interviews, experiments, prototyping, and minimum viable products (MVPs).
Develop a compelling value proposition, business model, initial go-to-market approach, and road-map for an early-stage venture.
Communicate and defend a startup concept with a clear, evidence-based pitch, and identify next steps for validation, growth, funding, and potential global expansion.
