
Course Overview:
German Language - *CEFR Level A1 is a language acquisition course, which is designed for students with no prior knowledge of the target language or for students with very limited previous exposure. The learners shall learn to communicate in the target language in familiar and unfamiliar contexts through the study of language, grammar, vocabulary, texts & culture. Communication is evidenced through receptive, productive and interactive skills across a range of contexts and purposes that are appropriate to the level of the course. The German Language course at LUMS follows an interactive approach with a focus on experiental learning and intercultural understanding. *(Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Learning Outcome:
Be able to understand & use everyday expressions in the target language
Introduce themselves and others
Ask & answer questions
Develop elementary proficiency in the target language in all four strands: listening (h'ren), speaking (sprechen), reading (lesen) & writing (schreiben).
Develop intercultural understanding & international mindedness
*CEFR certified educationist - a native speaker, from Berlin, Germany;
with 9 years teaching experience & pedagogical leadership across all 3 IB
programmes (PYP, MYP & DP). She is trained & appointed by the IBEN
(International Baccalaureate Educator Network) as a Workshop Leader,
School Evaluator , IBDP German & TOK (Theory of Knowledge)
Examiner. She has acquired her entire education & trainings from
Germany, including Japan. She is a Martin-Luther-Universit't graduate &
holds a German Language Diploma (Goethe Institute Berlin). Ms Hina is
currently teaching in Beacohouse Newlands Lahore as the Language
Acquisition Lead & Beaconhouse College Programme Gulberg and has
previously also worked with LGSi & Roots FWS.
Application process:
Participants must register online through the CES website by clicking on their desired course and filling out a one-page form. Before starting the registration process, please ensure that you have the following:
- A passport-sized photograph for the CES smartcard. It should be against a white background.
- Correct CNIC details.
Incorrect information provided during the registration process will lead towards cancellation of your enrolment at any stage, and participants will not be entitled to claim a refund.
Once you have completed your online registration, you may proceed to the payment section. You have two options:
1. Pay online using your bank debit/credit cards through LUMS online payment system??https://pay.lums.edu.pk
2. Download the fee voucher and deposit cash in any branch of the designated banks specified on the fee voucher.??
Once the payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation email within 24 to 48 working hours, and your payment status will be updated to "ENROLLED" in the online application portal.

Note: CES may cancel or postpone a course due to insufficient enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. In this case, the university will refund registration/processing fee (if any) but will not be responsible for any other related charges/expenses including cancellation/change charges by airline and travel agencies.
